This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience, for example, office or engineering staff.
The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions.
The course is run in a varied and dynamic style to engage learners in a more fun and interactive way rather than the tradition ‘death by powerpoint’ first aid courses have become infamous for.
We run this course at our HQ in Llangollen however we can run this at your place of work if you have a team and it is more convenient.
Primarily this is a course for the workplace however it is also suitable for those just wanting to learn some first aid skills. It is designed for organisations whose first aid assessment has identified a requirement for someone to hold a first aid at work qualification. If your assessment identifies a requirement for additional first aid training (e.g. due to having employees with a medical condition), we recommend the three day first aid at work course which teaches the skills to recognise and treat a wider range of injuries and medical conditions.
There is a three day course. We typically run this course from 0930-15.30
Assessment is done by continuous observation and questioning throughout the course.
We will cover a huge range of common medical emergencies but the core of the session is focused on
Resuscitation- CPR, How to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), Bandaging, Legalities, responsibilities and reporting, Heart attacks, Unresponsive casualty, Safe airway positions, Eye injuries, Fractures and spinal injuries, Choking, Control of bleeding, Chest injuries, Assessment of the situation, Common illnesses, Poisoning, Diabetes, Shock (including Anaphylaxis), Asthma, Head injuries, Sprains and strains, Stroke, Burns, Epilepsy
Upon successful completion, a nationally recognised OFQUL certificate is issued and is valid for three years.
To be certificated this is suitable for those 16 and over however training can be given to younger learners with a mature attitude please get in touch to discuss.
By arrangement the course can even be run on non-consecutive days, for example – one day a week over three weeks as not have such a dramatic impact upon the working week.
