Our Outdoor activities first aid course is designed to provide you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively to emergencies in remote outdoor settings. We run this course at our HQ in Llangollen, we usually spend one day at our riverside centre and the second day out on the surrounding hills. However we can run this at your place of work if you have a team and it is more convenient.
This is a course for professionals working in the outdoors. It is suitable for a range of national governing bodies including Mountain Training, British Canoeing, Royal Yacht Association, British Association of Snowsport Instructors.
This is a two day course.
Assessment is done by continuous observation and questioning throughout the course. There is a simple written test at the end.
We will cover a huge range of common medical emergencies but the core of the session is focused on
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR
How to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
The recovery/ safe airway position
Seizures
Choking
Bleeding & bandaging
Burns.
We will look at how these can be managed in a remote environment.
