A trip to North Wales is not complete without visiting the UNESCO Pontcysllte Aqueduct, and what better way to experience it than travelling over it in a canoe? Guided by a qualified and experience TNR instructor, you will learn the basics of canoeing whilst experience some of the most beautiful sights Llangollen has to offer.
After meeting your instructor at the canal, we will begin with a quick safety brief, then get you into your canoe!
From here, your instructor will teach you the basics to paddle your canoe in a straight line, how to turn and make sure you’re comfortable before you head towards the aqueduct!
Part of the UNESCO world heritage site, it is 38.4m (126ft) high over the river dee, and 306.9m (10007ft) long. We think there is no better no better way to experience it than by canoe.
Each trip is led by our qualified instructors who will be on hand to help and answer any questions you might have along the way.
Minimum booking of 2 people
We will meet you directly at the Froncysyllte Basin, by the lift bridge.

This is suitable for anyone aged 8 or over. All children must be accompanied by an adult, we can organise sessions for groups of children but it helps to know in advance so we can make special provisions.
All our equipment is chosen to be fit for purpose and is safety checked. You may bring your own equipment with you but using it will be at the instructor’s discretion.
We run this session to a ratio of 1:10 so there may be other people in your group. Our canoes seat 2 or three people. You will not be made to share a canoe with anyone you don’t know.
We never mix certain groups such as school groups with stag/hen groups etc..
If you want a private session, please call us and we will try our best to help.
It is not the aim of the session to capsize, particularly on the canal where the water is so calm but it may happen – you will be given instructions on what to do if this does happen and your instructor will rescue your boat and help you back in. The canal is only 3 feet deep.
Not at all, your buoyancy aid has more than enough floatation and our instructors will always help.
We sell waterproof phone cases which are suitable to keep your phone safe and dry. Your instructor may take some photos if they have the opportunity.
Providing your dog is well behaved and likes water, they are welcome to come
We are not insured to take dogs on our session, so you will be responsible for their safety.
